A Chance for Therapy

Our website www.act4me.org has all the information about Act4Me.

Act4Me is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization established in Miami-Dade County Florida, by volunteers dedicated to distribute financial assistance to local families, whose children suffer developmental delays due to a neurological disorder and are in need of additional income to pay or supplement payment for the treatment and care of their child with special needs.

Our  belief  is  that every  child  deserves  the right to progress to his highest potential, and should not be limited  by  the  constraint of inadequate amounts covered by most insurance companies for the therapy required. Our mission is to improve the life of these families ready to do anything and everything for their child, living through the agony of being unable to provide their loved one with all of the necessary care. Families of these special need children will be able to seek assistance by either: applying for a grant for Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy, that will pay a portion of, or supplement their current care, and will be made payable directly to the child's provider(s), or apply for a grant for therapy supplies to support their home therapy needs.

About pediatric neurological disorders, developmental delay & therapy: Pediatric neurological disorders are health conditions involving the nervous system, including the brain, nerves and spinal cord in children. Neurological disorders are diseases or injuries of the central nervous system that cause paralysis of any part of the body, and that affect children differently than they do adults.  They are many different pediatric neurological disorders, some with names, many without. Some of the most common pediatric neurological disorders are epilepsy as well as muscular dystrophies. These disorders have different causes, many of them are congenital (present at birth) In many other cases, doctors are unable to determine what exactly causes a child’s condition. Regardless  of the exact cause, all these disorders result in damage to the brain neurons. Neurological disorders are quite diverse, chronic, challenging to treat, and often disabling. They can be caused by many different factors, including (but not limited to): inherited genetic abnormalities, problems in the immune system, injury to the brain or nervous system, or diabetes. Many mental illnesses a re believed to be neurological disorders of the central nervous system, but they are classified separately. Hundreds of million of people worldwide are affected by neurological disorders.
